SAN DIEGO, Oct. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Gretchen Schomer Wendel, author of
"Becka and the Big Bubble" sells out at her first Barnes & Noble reading on
her Fall tour. On Saturday, Sept. 29th Ms. Wendel sold all of the available
store inventory (65 books) at Barnes & Noble in 20 minutes. She read two
books from her four book series at the Barnes & Noble store. Immediately
after the reading Ms. Wendel signed and sold every "Becka and the Big
 Bubble" book.
Dawn Diskin, who was at the reading, said, "I wanted to buy 10 books
but there were none left. It was amazing seeing people grab books from
other people's hands -- bartering for different titles. It was like the
cabbage patch kids craze years ago. People love her books!"
The Author has two more book signings in San Diego, CA planned on
Saturday, Oct. 6th at 1pm at Bookstar (3150 Rosecrans Place, San Diego) and
Thursday, Oct. 11th at 7pm at Barnes & Noble (Gateway Shopping Center,
Escondido.). Gretchen Wendel and her brother Adam Schomer (co-author) will
be doing live interviews on the NBC affiliates in San Diego and San
Francisco on October 6 and October 20th respectively.
There are four books in the award winning series: "Becka and the Big
Bubble: All Around Town," "Becka and the Big Bubble: Becka Goes to the
North Pole," "Becka Goes To San Francisco," and "Becka Goes To India." An
acclaimed children's book collection, "Becka and the Big Bubble" is a
rhyming picture book about a confident girl who floats on magic bubbles to
visit new and interesting places. The stories capture the whimsy of a girl
who fearlessly explores the world around her.
All four titles are available for purchase (SRP: $11.99) at Barnes &
Noble, Borders Books and on-line through Wal-Mart (http://www.walmart.com),
 Target (http://www.target.com) and Amazon.com.
The entire "Becka" series has been selected by the NBA Golden State
Warriors basketball team in Oakland, CA for their NBA outreach program and
recently accepted by the San Diego Library where 33 branches will carry the
books. The Schomer siblings will launch the series at book signings in
California throughout the Fall season including San Diego, Los Angeles and
 San Francisco.
