Avere Systems CTO to Address Storage System Performance Improvements in HPC Environments at SC09 Conference

Company also exhibits its FXT Series of NAS Appliances at International Conference for High Performance Computing, Networking, Storage & Analysis

PITTSBURGH, Nov. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Mike Kazar, Chief Technology Officer for Avere Systems, an emerging company focused on delivering Demand-Driven Storage(TM) solutions, is among the invited speakers to present at the 21st annual SC conference for high performance computing, networking, storage and analysis in room E143-144 at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland November 17 at 4:30 p.m.

Kazar's presentation, "Dynamic Storage Tiering: Increase Performance Without Penalty," will examine how adding self-managing tiers of storage to users' architectures can provide significant performance improvements while simultaneously reducing both purchase and operating costs, thereby minimizing the difficulties of optimally configuring storage system performance in today's HPC environments.

Avere will also be exhibiting its FXT Series of NAS appliances throughout the convention November 14-20 in Booth No. 149. Avere's FXT appliances dynamically allocate data between Solid State and HDD tiers, yielding higher performance and lower costs while avoiding over-provisioning of storage capacity, inefficient use of limited data center space and wasted power consumption.

The FXT Series is ideal for organizations looking to improve the current performance of their storage networks while significantly driving down the cost of their existing architectures, making it a "must see" exhibit at SC09.

With the FXT Series, business demand for rapid data access is met by storing active client data on a cluster of high-performance FXT appliances. The FXT moves inactive data to a legacy NAS file server that is optimized for capacity and data retention. System performance scales linearly by adding additional appliances to the FXT cluster and capacity scales by adding disk storage to the NAS file server or mass storage system. Decoupling storage network performance from the disk capacity available enables Avere to deliver enterprise-class application performance while slashing acquisition costs by 60 percent and ongoing operating costs by a 5:1 ratio on average.

SC09 features the most interesting and innovative HPC scientific and technical applications from around the world, including an exceptional program of technical papers, tutorials and timely research posters with an impressive lineup of invited speakers and panel participants representing industry, academia and government research organizations.
