LOS ANGELES, April 5, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Director/Technical Director Paul Overacker will be speaking on a panel about the entertainment industry, at The College at Brockport, State University of New York's "Hollywood Comes to Brockport II" on Friday, April 7th from 2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. at the Tower Fine Arts Mainstage Theatre. The panel brings accomplished Hollywood alumni to the Brockport campus to share their stories and insights on succeeding in the entertainment industry.
Overacker will be joining a panel of other accomplished entertainment alumni as they discuss their experiences, obstacles and triumphs navigating Hollywood. Fellow panelists include: Jesse Goins ('74, Actor – "Patriot Games", "Robocop"), James Goldthwait ('82, 1st Assistant Director – "Code Black", "Scream Queens") and Stuart Krieger ('73, Writer – "Land Before Time", "Steven Spielberg's Amazing Stories").

Overacker started working in Hollywood more than 20 years ago at Fox Sports as a Technical Director. Since then, he has logged over 20,000 hours of television as both a Director and Technical Director. He was nominated for a Sports Emmy® for his work on "NFL Super Bowl 50" in 2016 and was recognized again for his work with a second Sports Emmy® nomination for the "NFL Draft – NFL Network (Technical Team)" in 2017. He currently works on shows such as "NFL Red Zone", "NFL Total Access", "Dr. Phil" and "The Doctors" and is directing the upcoming pilot "Millennial Rules."
Earlier this year, Overacker received two Telly Awards for his directing work on "E3 on Twitch – Playstation E3 Experience" and for eSports League's "Guild Wars 2 Pro League – Season 2 Finals." Recently, he led a well-received industry panel for the members of the Editors Guild, addressing the challenges of creating and editing live television.
In 2016, Overacker received the Outstanding Service Award from the Alumni Association of The College at Brockport for his outstanding commitment to The College and for his remarkable professional achievements. He is currently a voting member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and a Board member of the Motion Picture Editors Guild.
When asked what advice he would give the next generation to succeed in Hollywood, Overacker said, "I think it's an incredible time to be part of the entertainment industry.
