WASHINGTON, Nov. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- The Industrial Designers Society of
America (IDSA) honored 36 winners in the Design of the Decade Competition on
November 19, 1999 at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. The
BabyBjorn(R) Baby Carrier was one of the winners.
"It recognizes the most compelling design/business success stories of the
1990s and honors products and strategies that have made a significant business
impact," IDSA comments on the competition. "The event marks a milestone in

world. It enables close contact during the early months for babies and their
parents. The industrial design was made by Hakan Bergkvist and the textile
design by Lillemor Jakobson. The BabyBjorn(R) Baby Carrier was launched in
1991 and is sold in more than 25 countries. It is distributed in North
America by Regal Lager Inc., Marietta, Georgia.
The award was accepted by the new CEO, Anders Jonsson, who expressed at
the ceremony: "The vision of BabyBjorn(R) is to simplify the everyday
activities for parents and children making the most important years of life
even more enjoyable. The BabyBjorn(R) Baby Carrier enables a close contact
between parents and babies during those early and important months of life."
BabyBjorn(R) received a silver award. Earlier in November the
BabyBjorn(R) Baby Carrier received the Mother&Baby Gold Award for best carrier
in London. Mother&Baby is the largest parenting title in the UK. In October
it received the American Baby Best of the Year Award, chosen by 7,000 parents
to be one of the top ten products of the year for the magazine American Baby.
