
Baden Academy Charter School appoints Catanzarite to serve as first CEO
BEAVER, Pa., May 25, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In a unanimous vote, the Board of Trustees of the Baden Academy Charter School today appointed Stephen Catanzarite as Chief Executive Officer. He previously served as chairman of the charter school's planning committee. The appointment is effective immediately.
"Steve has been a key member of our founding coalition, and had a significant hand in developing the mission, vision, and academic program of our school," said Sal Aloe, board president. "He's energetic, creative, and a strong leader, and with his deep background in the arts and education, he is uniquely qualified to serve as CEO of Baden Academy Charter School."
The managing director of the Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center, Catanzarite helped found the highly successful Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School, leading the development of its arts curriculum and overseeing its arts programs. At Lincoln Park, he helped develop major partnerships with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, the Yamaha Music and Wellness Institute, the Yamaha Corporation of America, and an impressive roster of acclaimed artists. Catanzarite recently helped launch a groundbreaking research partnership among Lincoln Park, Yamaha, and the MIT Media Lab aimed at studying the effects of creative musical expression in delaying or treating the onset of Alzheimer's disease and other forms of cognitive impairment.

Catanzarite holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and Creative Writing from Carnegie Mellon University, and a Master of Science in Education from Franciscan University.
