Advance
SAN JOSE, Calif., Nov. 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
BAM! Entertainment(TM) (Nasdaq: BFUN) today announced that it is shipping The
Powerpuff Girls: Him and Seek and Dexter's Laboratory: Chess Challenge for the
Game Boy Advance. Echoing the humor and brilliance of the popular cartoons
and following on the success of previous Cartoon Network inspired titles, the
two new games are being introduced in time to capitalize on the upcoming
holiday selling season and are being supported by a nationwide marketing
campaign.
Airing daily on Cartoon Network, The Powerpuff Girls debuted in November
1998 and attracts nearly 19 million viewers per week. According to Cartoon
Network, the Emmy-winning series, created by Craig McCracken, consistently
ranks among its top-rated programs across a wide range of demographics,
including boys, girls, tweens, teens and even adults. Dexter's Laboratory
debuted in November 1996 and joins The Powerpuff Girls as the network's two
highest-rated original series for 2002. Sixty-five half-hour episodes have
been created, with another 13 episodes currently in production.
"The Powerpuff Girls and Dexter's Laboratory continue to be two of our
highest rated shows," said James Porges, Vice President of Off-Channel
Commerce for Cartoon Network. "Coupling the ongoing popularity of the
properties with great gameplay, BAM! offers Game Boy Advance fans two winning
titles this fall."
"BAM! is excited that our relationship with Cartoon Network continues to
grow," said Jill Braff, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing for BAM!
Entertainment. "These two well-crafted titles are the perfect addition to a
Christmas list. Kids will love them."
In The Powerpuff Girls: Him and Seek an innocent scavenger hunt in
Townville turns upside down when the evil Him steps in with his own version of
the game to spice things up. Players can take control of Blossom, Bubbles and
Buttercup and race onto this side scrolling action adventure game. By
defeating the villains and solving the mystery, gamers will teach Him a lesson
once and for all.
In Dexter's Laboratory: Chess Challenge kids enter into the ancient world
of the battle board. Players can play as either Dexter, Dee Dee, Mandark or
Major Glory and match wits against their opponent to determine who is the true
genius. Winning moves are rewarded with funny animations in the style of the
cartoon series. Kids can also play with friends on the multiplayer link.
The Powerpuff Girls' marketing campaign includes a nationwide television
campaign featuring 30-second ads targeting kids ages 6-11. BAM! Entertainment
is also enclosing a coupon for $5 off any of its Cartoon Network 2002 holiday
titles in over one million copies of The Powerpuff Girls Movie on DVD and VHS.
A BAM! video game trailer is an added feature to The Powerpuff Girls Movie on
DVD. In addition, BAM! has partnered with Cartoon Network in the 'Gotta Get
It' campaign, featuring ads in such top tween and teen magazines as Cosmo
Girl, YM and Teen People. The 'Gotta Get It' campaign also includes backlit
advertising displays in malls throughout the nation during the holidays.
The Powerpuff Girls: Him and Seek was developed by Vicarious Visions.
Virtucraft Studios developed Dexter's Laboratory: Chess Challenge. Both
titles have an ESRB rating of E for everyone and are currently available at a
suggested retail price of $29.99 each. For more information on The Powerpuff
