Barclays Employees Plant Trees at Wilmington's East Side Charter School

    WILMINGTON, Del., April 11 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/-- Seventy-five
 employees from Barclays US credit card operation will spend the day picking
 up trash and planting 125 trees around the border of a four acre field
 adjacent to East Side Charter School in northeast Wilmington, Delaware. The
 trees were donated by Barclays on behalf of their credit card partner The
 National Arbor Day Foundation. The event will begin at 11:30 a.m. on
 Tuesday, April 10, 2007.
     The field adjacent to the school has been littered with trash and
 surrounded by industrial properties for years. The school ultimately hopes
 to build a playground on the site and would like to some day add baseball
 and soccer fields. The tree-planting project is the first step toward
 creating the playground setting.
     Patrice Sheehan, Tree Program Manager at the Delaware Center for
 Horticulture provided advice on the ideal type and number of trees for the
 site as well as guidance for the long-term care of the trees. She will also
 be onsite to supervise the planting. Davey Tree has donated watering
 services to ensure that the trees make it through the first few months
 following their planting.
