NEW YORK, April 2, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Wealth and Investment Management division of Barclays is pleased to announce the hire of two Investment Representatives to its Los Angeles office, as it grows rapidly in the metropolitan Los Angeles region.
Matthew Celenza and Larry DiGioia join the firm from Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management where they catered to ultra high net worth individuals and their families. Together, the team has more than 40 years of experience managing portfolios and providing comprehensive wealth management advice including asset allocation, customized credit solutions, risk management, trust and estate planning and philanthropic services. They report to Brian Sears, Managing Director and Regional Manager for Los Angeles.

Mr. Celenza, a Managing Director, brings 15 years of wealth management experience to Barclays. He is focused on delivering the highest level of service to his clients in the ultra high net worth market place. While at Morgan Stanley from 1998 - 2001, Mr. Celenza helped develop the architecture to service their largest clients. He then moved to Citi Family Office in Los Angeles, and subsequently served ultra high net worth clients as a private wealth advisor at Morgan Stanley and Smith Barney. Four years ago, Mr. Celenza co-founded with Mr. DiGioia The Wilshire Group, a team serving ultra high net worth individuals and families with a full suite of wealth management and planning capabilities. Mr. Celenza holds a B.A. in Finance with honors from Niagara University. He sits on the board of A Better LA and is a volunteer coach with the American Youth Soccer Organization.
Mr. DiGioia, a Director, joins Barclays with 23 years of wealth management experience. He began his career in 1987 with Lehman Brothers where he spent nine years. Mr. DiGioia later served his ultra high net worth clientele at Merrill Lynch then Smith Barney, where he co-founded The Wilshire Group with Mr. Celenza. Mr. DiGioia focuses on the customization of strategies for ultra high net worth individuals, particularly corporate executives and founders of publicly traded companies, assisting them with restricted, control and concentrated securities transactions, new issues and block trades. A native of Brooklyn, New York, he holds a B.A. in Business from Pace University.
Since joining Barclays as Regional Manager for Los Angeles, in September 2010, Mr. Sears has been focused on growing the regional business and has doubled the size of the office. In the past six months, the following ultra high net worth advisors have joined the office: Lisa Amster from Goldman Sachs; Audra Lalley from Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management; Mark T. Lindee from Wells Fargo; and Kevin Monaco, David Garfin and Scott Madison from Credit Suisse Private Banking.

Mr. Sears joined Barclays 18 months ago from Neuberger Berman where he was Global Co-Head of Distribution for Alternative Investments. Prior to that, he was an investment advisor at Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch and Lehman Brothers. He holds an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School and a B.S. in Economics from the United States Naval Academy.
