The comprehensive SIS Solution implemented at BJH featured the AHA endorsed SIS Surgical Scheduling and a Rules-Based Charging system granted "Peer Reviewed" status by HFMA. It also included SIS Trax, the comprehensive tissue management system for which BJH was a development partner. All SIS solutions utilize a single database to provide for optimal efficiency at every step of the perioperative process.

Since 2006, SIS has been providing its surgery management solution to many BJC HealthCare hospitals including Alton Memorial Hospital, Christian Hospital Northeast, Progress West HealthCare Center, Missouri Baptist Medical Center, and now the 1,100 bed Barnes-Jewish Hospital.

"Barnes-Jewish Hospital, in partnership with SIS, has implemented a solution focused specifically on the needs of the operating room," said Jerry Vuchak, Vice President of Information Services at BJC HealthCare. "The SIS implementation met our high expectations and provided us with a flexible methodology that gives us exactly what we need for best practices in the surgery department."

Ed Daihl, SIS CEO, said that the successful implementation at Barnes-Jewish Hospital illustrates the importance of a focused, feature-rich solution for the perioperative department that works easily with operations and systems that are already in place.

"SIS listens," said Daihl. "During implementations we provide standards to guide and promote best practices, but we also enable clients to customize their solutions to match their facilities' unique workflows. Whereas some companies offer canned implementation approaches that force rigid adoption of third party processes, we understand the need to be flexible and completely interoperable with other hospital systems."

SIS has been focused on interoperability since its inception, and is a leader in recognizing and providing full software interoperability to enable hospital information to flow effortlessly with easy-to-integrate solutions. The SIS commitment to interoperability ensures client success and helps to build meaningful electronic health records wherever implemented.
