BATS Wireless Announces Successful Test of High-Capacity FPU Communications Link

INDIANAPOLIS, Aug. 13, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- BATS Wireless (BATS), the world's leading innovator of wireless stabilization, optimization and tracking systems, today announced the successful test of three of its stabilized microwave systems for a major Oil & Gas project—located off the coast of Pointe Noire in Republic of Congo. The systems, when installed, will allow the field operators to provide high-speed, low-latency data and communications to their main floating production unit (FPU), even during constant sea motion.

For this project, BATS' industry-leading proprietary, stabilized DVM wireless systems and Aviat microwave radios are used to form a high-speed, high-capacity network that can offer up to multi-gigabit connectivity. The ruggedized, marine-grade BATS systems deliver a wealth of cutting-edge wireless communications and data opportunities to FPSO, FPU and drillship operators, enabling end users access to faster, more adaptive communications networks—already providing major energy producers with both enhanced production capabilities and crew comfort.

BATS and Aviat engineered a spatially diverse solution, when combined with two DVM 50 systems, one DVM 90 system and Eclipse radios, that provides the field operators with the high-capacity, secure link required for communications while moving or stationary during deepwater plays.
