Baylor University's Accounting Students Rank Nationally in CPA Pass Rates
WACO, Texas, Sept. 25 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Baylor University's Accounting program is one of the best in the country, according to the results for first-time candidates of the 2008 Uniform Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam released by the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA).
Baylor's 100 percent pass rate by graduate students on the Business Environment and Concepts section ranked first nationally. Over 83 percent passed the Financial Accounting and Reporting section -- sixth in the country -- and over 82 percent passed the Regulation section -- ninth in the country.
Baylor undergraduates performed notably as well, with a pass rate of 56 percent -- 20th in the country.
Dr. Charles Davis, department chair of Accounting and Business Law explained, "We work hard to give the students a good foundation of knowledge, not only for the exam, but also for their professional careers." Davis noted that students supplement this with many hours of hard work and preparation outside the classroom.
These efforts are paying off. Most importantly, the results show that Baylor business students are learning the skills and acquiring the tools that will allow them to be successful after they leave Baylor.
And they also show, as Davis said, that "we're among the best in the country." In fact, placing among the top schools in CPA pass rates is becoming an annual thing, as this is the fourth straight year Baylor has earned a top-5 ranking.
