BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Jan. 24, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Beverly Hills Conference & Visitors Bureau (BHCVB), in collaboration with China International Culture Association (CICA) and Beijing Association for Culture Exchanges (BACE) began the celebration of the Lunar New Year with the "Happy Chinese New Year - Charming Beijing" variety show and celebration at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills on January 21, 2017. It was the sixth consecutive year of Beverly Hills celebrating Chinese New Year with a public event and the third year with the support of CICA, BACE and the Chinese Consulate of Los Angeles. The event, which celebrates the Year of the Rooster and is sponsored by Delta Air Lines, STEFANO RICCI and Two Rodeo Drive, featured internationally acclaimed entertainment from Beijing.
"Each year, this event attracts more local residents and visitors to the city, and highlights Beverly Hills' appreciation of the vibrant Chinese culture," said Julie Wagner, Chief Executive Officer of BHCVB. "By featuring Chinese cultural traditions in a spectacular show and pre-show exhibit, we hope to encourage a greater understanding of China's magnificent history and, in turn, celebrate the strong bond of friendship which will continue to unite us throughout the New Year."
To further enhance the festivities around town, participating Beverly Hills hotels, including The Beverly Hilton, Beverly Wilshire, A Four Seasons Hotel, Viceroy L'Ermitage Beverly Hills, Montage Beverly Hills and The Peninsula Beverly Hills, are offering packages to welcome the Year of the Rooster. The unique experiences awaiting Chinese New Year travelers at Beverly Hills' finest hotels include in-room treats such as custom slippers and lush bathrobes; Chinese newspapers and hot water kettles; as well as VIP shopping trips with personal luxury advisors; and exclusive access and chauffeured transportation to the city's attractions.
A number of boutiques and flagship stores in the famous shopping destination, including Rodeo Drive, are also celebrating by featuring rooster-themed products or red accents. Memorable items to note include Louis Vuitton's Vuittonite Pendant Necklace, Dior's "Diorelita" Bracelet, Burberry's Lunar New Year Collection and Gucci's Chinese New Year Scarf. Breguet, David Orgell and Cartier and many other storefront windows in the city are decorated with beautiful displays, inspired by Chinese New Year, also known as Spring Festival. And select luxury retailers are providing VIP shoppers with exclusive red envelopes and unique gifts, such as Coach's red leather phone case, available with purchase while supplies last. (Red envelopes are a traditional gift in China as the red color symbolizes good luck and is a representation to ward off evil spirits).
The Year of the Rooster officially begins January 28, 2017 and lasts through February 15, 2018.
