Black Friday Continues to Grow Online According to TheFind
Zhu Zhu Pets, Tech Decks, and Online Discounters Among the Most Popular
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Nov. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- TheFind, shopping's leading vertical search engine, reported a 120% year over year surge in search queries on Black Friday and a 75% week over week jump in its mobile search traffic.
TheFind is a top 5 shopping site as rated by ComScore and recorded more than 15 million unique visitors for October 2009. TheFind indexes nearly 400 million products from more than 500,000 stores and online sellers.
According to TheFind, Zhu Zhu Pets, Fisher Price Power Wheels, Tech Decks, Nintendo DS Lite, and iPod Touch were among the most sought after gift items. Other popular items included Flat Bill Hats, Ugg Boots, and Boyfriend Blazers. The online sites most benefitting from TheFind's spike in search traffic, were Amazon, Etsy, Kohls, Overstock and Walmart. The top coupon searches were for Sears and Toys R Us.
"Shoppers are continuing to seek ways to stretch their holiday spending as far as possible and that is translating into more searches for gifts with lower price points and retailers with the best prices," said Siva Kumar, CEO of TheFind. "Also interesting is that many shoppers seem more than willing to window shop within the physical retailers and look for a better price on their mobile device."
In the mobile space, TheFind saw a significant jump in traffic as consumers are increasingly taking advantage of their mobile phone's capacity to find a better price while they are out shopping.
"With a couple of weeks remaining for shoppers to order items online and have them arrive before the big day, we anticipate online and mobile shopping to continue to be significant factors in shaping how consumers choose to spend this holiday season, and that means that all retailers will continue to have to fight hard for each sale," concluded Kumar.
