WASHINGTON, April 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Blackboard Inc. today announced that it is joining Internet2®, a consortium of thought leaders in the education industry who collaborate on cutting-edge network and technology innovations to overcome challenges facing higher education institutions.
The company will also be working with the Internet2's higher education community to validate customized education services for the community.
As part of the Internet2 NET+ initiative, Blackboard will work closely with representative Internet2 members to explore advances in learning technologies when delivered over the advanced Internet2 network, develop and customize solutions for use by Internet2 member campuses, and support the alignment of those services with the needs of instructors, students and administrators. The community-validated education services will be delivered on the advanced Internet2 Network and leverage InCommon federated authentication and other community middle ware assets.

"We look forward to collaborating to mutually shape the future of technology and its potential to transform education. Being a part of the conversations happening in the Internet2 community will be another valuable resource to us as we continue to develop solutions that reimagine education."
