BLK DNM Announces Leather Project X The first to offer accessible custom leather jackets
NEW YORK, May 14, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- BLK DNM announces the launch of Leather Project X, a new in-store station that allows women and men to create custom leather jackets, launching at the brand's downtown New York flagship this May. BLK DNM is the first to offer custom leather jackets at this level of quality and accessibility.
The Leather Project X station, at 237 Lafayette, will offer a rotating selection of fine European leathers in various colors, textures and finishes, as well as a range of shearlings, long and short, straight and curly, muted and fluorescent. From textural parings and color stories curated by Lindeberg, customers will select their own combination of materials, and the placement of each on their jacket in sections such as the collar, sleeves and back panel. Each customized jacket will be produced individually upon order, in New York's garment district.

I think for many, like me, a leather jacket is one of those core pieces.. Beginning today, clients at the NYC store may book an appointment with a BLK DNM custom leather specialist to review color stories in newly available leathers and shearlings from France, Italy, Spain and Turkey. The materials will be presented in a comprehensive book that showcases the textures and nuances of each. Lindeberg will oversee the broader selection and pairings of the particular leathers, so that each customization fits within the BLK DNM aesthetic. From each color story, the client may then select which leathers and shearlings will cover each panel on the jacket. A selection of completed jacket samples will be on view for inspiration.
The custom leather specialist will also be on site to review sizing options and suggestions. Customers will choose fit and sizing options from BLK DNM's iconic styles: Leather Jacket 1, Leather Jacket 8 and Leather Jacket 5. A digital image of the final custom jacket will be provided to the client as the order is confirmed. Prices range from $3495 to $3995. Upon order, each custom jacket is locally crafted, piece-by-piece, in New York City's garment district. The turnaround time is approximately six weeks.
Leather Project X will also be available at BLK DNM Stockholm store in May, and globally when the brand launches a special app dedicated to the project this summer.

Emerald green, high-gloss sheepskin; reflective, green-foiled lambskin with cracked effect; navy, short-hair sheepskin with an electric-blue, croc-embossed backside; smooth cobalt-blue cow skin; extra-long, goat-hair shearling in midnight blue; silver-foiled lambskin.
Leather Project X was created following the success of BLK DNM's Luxury Leather Jacket 8 project, in which eight high-end jackets were custom designed from the iconic Leather Jacket 8, for women like Anja Rubik, Caroline de Maigret, Carolyn Murphy, Daria Werbowy, Karlie Kloss and Arizona Muse. Each jacket was made to order, and available in the BLK DNM NYC and Stockholm stores, as well as an exclusive for Colette in Paris. Additional BLK DNM custom leather jackets have since been created for Nate Lowman, Olivier Zahm, Albert Hammond Jr., Noomi Rapace and Theophilus London, among others. As demand grew, Lindeberg has claimed the position to offer this custom leather jacket service on a broader scale, to the BLK DNM customer, with Leather Project X.
