Blue Ridge Mazda Anticipates Mazda Takeri Concept at New York International Auto Show

LEE'S SUMMIT, Miss., April 2, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Mazda North American Operations recently announced that it would reveal its third Takeri concept vehicle at the 2012 New York International Auto Show. The automaker's first concept to be fully equipped with a Skyactiv-D diesel engine, the new Takeri will be outfitted with a number of features designed to improve fuel efficiency and overall performance. In keeping with the automaker's newest design philosophy, KODO, which means "Soul of Motion," the newest addition to the Takeri family with elegant styling and unmatched fuel-saving technology. Mazda developed the i-stop and i-ELOOP systems, which save and reuse fuel to increase the vehicle's economy. Each of these systems will be featured in the third-generation Takeri.

i-stop technology is a start-stop system that saves fuel by automatically turning off a vehicle's engine when the vehicle is stopped. When driving resumes, the engine gets restarted enhancing the vehicle's fuel efficiency by about 10 percent. During braking, i-ELOOP converts the vehicle's kinetic energy into electric energy. Recycling the energy allows the vehicle to use less fuel and improve fuel efficiency.

Efficiency won't be the only highlight in the newest Takeri. Mazda's beautifully designed exterior and interior features match the innovativeness and impressive styling of the vehicle's engine.
