Bluestar Silicones Moves Forward with Growth Plans; Completes Acquisition of Facility in South Carolina
EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J., Oct. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Bluestar Silicones is moving forward with its growth plans, announcing the acquisition of property in York, S.C., where it will establish its new manufacturing footprint and R&D center for North America.
Bluestar Silicones will relocate its two U.S. manufacturing facilities currently in Ventura, Calif., and Rock Hill, S.C., to a 226,000 square foot building set on 20 acres in York.
"The property acquisition is an important step forward in the execution of our strategic plan for North America," said J. Christopher York, president, Bluestar Silicones USA. "This new site offers us a sizable footprint to expand our manufacturing workshops, to increase our laboratory capabilities and to improve product stewardship in existing specialty markets. It also allows us to add new competencies to broaden our product portfolio for new market penetration. It is an exciting time for Bluestar Silicones and the customers we serve."
The York facility will become the central R&D center for Bluestar Silicones in North America, bringing R&D personnel together under one roof where larger laboratory facilities and new pilot equipment are expected to improve technical synergies, accelerating product development and support.
Bluestar Silicones will commence moving to York in November, transitioning manufacturing capabilities and product lines in stages to ensure a smooth changeover for customers.
The company will produce its full range of silicone technologies in York, including liquid silicone rubbers (LSRs), high consistency rubbers (HCRs), room-temperature vulcanized silicones (RTVs), fluids, dispersions, release coatings, specialty fluids, resins and antifoams, marketed under its Silbione®, Silcolease®, Silcolapse®, Lyndcoat®, Mirasil® and Bluesil® trade names.
The new site is expected to be fully transitioned by mid-2012.
