Blunt on Democrats' First 100 Hours
WASHINGTON, Jan. 3 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- House Republican Whip Roy
Blunt (Mo.) today issued the following statement on House Democrats' first
one hundred hours:
"Speaker-elect Nancy Pelosi's historic ascent tomorrow deserves
considerable applause, but her party's agenda deserves considerable
scrutiny.
"House Republicans hope to work in a bipartisan way to fight and win
the Global War on Terror, support our troops and continue tax policies that
have led to a robust economy and unprecedented job creation, but House
Democrats are already demonstrating that they won't live up to their
promises of procedural fairness.
"In their first one hundred hours of governance, House Democrats will
renege on a pledge to fully debate policy alternatives, denying the
citizens of this country an open, honest discussion of the issues.
"House Republicans are committed to working with Democrats toward
consensus on our goals of fiscal responsibility, continued economic growth,
and opportunity for all Americans."
