Boise Cascade to Retain DeRidder, Louisiana, Mill and Seven Western Box Plants
BOISE, Idaho, April 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Boise Cascade Corp. (NYSE: BCC)
announced today that it has concluded its review of strategic alternatives for
its pulp and paper mill in DeRidder, Louisiana, and seven corrugated container
facilities in the West. The company will continue to own and operate these
facilities.
"The DeRidder newsprint and linerboard mill has established a record of
outstanding performance over the years," said George J. Harad, chairman of
board and chief executive officer. "In addition, our box plants have achieved
a strong market position in the West. After considering numerous proposals
reflecting several different strategic alternatives, we have concluded that
none created more value for our shareholders than retaining the earnings and
cash flow that these units produce. We will continue to manage all of our
assets, including these, against that shareholder value standard."
