Book-Of-The-Month Club (BOMC)(R) Launches Smart Reader Rewards Program(TM)

    NEW YORK, July 6 /PRNewswire/ -- For over 75 years, the Book-of-the-Month
 Club helped Americans choose what to read. Now, BOMC is launching a radical
 new way to buy books.
     The program, Smart Reader Rewards, offers savings, selection, and service
 that readers won't find at any other bookseller. Smart Reader Rewards is a new
 service from Book-of-the-Month Club.
     With Reader's Choice, one of the new features of Smart Reader Rewards,
 members choose from one of six categories: Mystery & Suspense, History &
 Biography, Fiction, Nonfiction & Current Affairs, Home & Family, and Health &
 Self-Help. Each category contains the hottest bestsellers and critically
 acclaimed books. Every book is previewed by BOMC's outstanding editorial
 board. Each month Smart Reader Rewards members will receive by mail the
 featured book from their chosen genre. Importantly, BOMC members are always
 free to change their genre each month as well as order additional books from
 different categories.
     Smart Reader Rewards represents a sweeping departure of how BOMC
 previously operated. Historically, BOMC every month featured one major book
 known as the Main Selection. Each BOMC member would receive the Main Selection
 unless he or she declined the selection. Now, each Smart Reader Rewards member
 is in charge of his own featured selection. (Current BOMC members remain
 enrolled in BOMC.)
     Members of Smart Reader Rewards can get up to $220 worth of books for $1,
 plus shipping and handling. The program provides a 30% to 80% savings off
 publishers' hardcover edition prices. Members will never be offered books they
 do not want. And, there are no cards to return when they reply online or by
 phone.
     Both the catalog and Internet site are divided into sections to help
 members find their titles more efficiently.
     Booksearch Plus is another new feature offered by Smart Reader Rewards.
 Booksearch Plus provides over 70,000 additional titles. If members cannot find
 the book they want listed in the catalog or online, they can simply use
 Booksearch Plus and it will track it down for them at no additional cost.
     There is also a Smart Reader Rewards website for those who want to join
 (http://www.joinsrr.com) with features such as Member Reviews in which one
 member can get a recommendation from another on particular books and authors.
 The website also offers Author Interviews, Excerpts, and Sneak Previews in
