By booking now through January 29, 2010 for travel from 50 to 330 days in advance, Australia-bound travelers can take advantage of some of the lowest Qantas Business fares in the last decade, with round-trip fares to Sydney and Brisbane from Los Angeles (LAX) and San Francisco (SFO) starting at just $4,439, and fares from New York (JFK) from just $4,943. Flights to other Australian cities are available at additional airfare.
Qantas, one of the first airlines to operate between Australia and the United States, invented Business Class in 1979 and in October 2008 began A380 service from Los Angeles to Sydney and Melbourne on select flights and dates.
Features for Qantas Business passengers departing from the U.S. mainland include: award-winning Qantas Business service; access to the deluxe Qantas Business lounges in Sydney and Melbourne and partner lounges stateside; an enhanced Skybed sleeper seat designed by Qantas Creative Director Marc Newson, with ergonomically-enhanced cushioning; up to 1,000 entertainment options presented on the 12-inch in-arm touch screen system; cuisine options from five-course dinners to a la carte menus to Room Service breakfasts designed by leading Australian Chef Neil Perry, and a carefully considered amenity pack, featuring a selection of comforts to enhance the flight experience.
In addition, Qantas is the only airline offering A380 service from the U.S. on select non-stop flights from Los Angeles to Sydney and Melbourne. By late 2009, Qantas will operate daily A380 flights between Los Angeles and Sydney and three A380 flights per week between Los Angeles and Melbourne. Travelers have access to all the amenities listed above as well as on-board business lounge and meeting space, with laptop connectivity and a self-service refreshment bar; and the A380 aircraft interior was designed entirely by Qantas Creative Director Marc Newson. The Qantas fleet of four A380s will grow to six by the end of 2009 and to 20 by 2015.
"With a history of 55 years of flying between the U.S. and Australia, Qantas offers the highest standard in trans-Pacific travel," said Mr. Wally Mariani, Qantas Senior Executive Vice President for the Americas. "This exclusive, limited-time offer makes an Australian escape even more accessible, giving a wider North American audience access to the world-class amenities that make Qantas Business truly stand apart."
