NOVI, Mich., Dec. 6, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Plumbers from across the U.S. gathered in Michigan recently to meet with BrassCraft Manufacturing Company.  The forum focused on the impending 2014 nation-wide no-lead legislation and its impact on the plumbing industry.

The new federal no-lead legislation, Federal Public Law 111-380, prohibits the sale of plumbing fixtures with a wetted surface area containing more than a weighted average of 0.25% lead. This law virtually eliminates the lead content of pipes, pipe fittings and fixtures intended to convey or dispense water for drinking or cooking.  The plumbers learned what products are affected by the new law, how products will be marked, and how to avoid obsolete inventories prior to the January 4, 2014 effectivity date.
