BrassCraft Receives Silver Hammer Award from Habitat for Humanity

NOVI, Mich., Dec. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Habitat for Humanity of Oakland County, Michigan, has presented BrassCraft Manufacturing with a prestigious award for providing plumbing products and financial support for homes built in 2009. Called the "Silver Hammer Award," this honor was bestowed on only six companies in recognition of their generosity in helping Habitat for Humanity provide housing for families in need.

The 2009 awards were presented at a recent event, and the Silver Hammer Award was accepted by David Tisch, product designer at BrassCraft and organizer of "BrassCraft Build," BrassCraft's employee volunteer program. Each year, BrassCraft Build teams help construct Habitat for Humanity homes in Oakland County.

"Habitat for Humanity has been building homes in Oakland County since 1994, utilizing over 20,000 volunteers like those on the BrassCraft team," stated Brad Irwin, director of partnerships, Habitat for Humanity of Oakland County. "BrassCraft's hands-on efforts, in addition to product and financial support, are the reasons they were selected to receive our 2009 Silver Hammer Award."

Habitat for Humanity of Oakland County mission statement is "To eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world and to make decent housing a matter of conscience and action." Since 1994, HFHOC has built 74 houses in Oakland County, housing approximately 240 people, about 160 of them children. Homes are typically 3- and 4-bedroom, 1-bath ranch houses of approximately 1,200 square feet.
