This Is The Debate America Wants!

LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz., Jan. 31, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Rick Murphy, a local broadcaster, has proposed a plan to raise $1,000,000 for charity by inviting President Obama and Speaker Gingrich to debate Lincoln/Douglas style in February in the Lake Havasu City, Arizona area.  Murphy says, "This is the debate America wants!" 

Murphy has arranged a venue to seat 1100 people and will donate 1/3 of the profits from admission and TV rights to Make A Wish Foundation, an organization that serves children with life-threatening medical conditions.  The remaining 2/3 will be divided between two charities, with each candidate naming a favorite charity. Murphy estimates that each charity could receive one third of a million dollars.

One hundred complimentary seats will be reserved for area college students majoring in political science.   

Murphy says, "This debate will allow the voters to see our president and speaker, one on one, without the media control, and to raise much needed money for charities."  Murphy also said that an event like this would show voters that the candidates care about rural America.  Lake Havasu City is a rural community of approximately 55,000 residents.
