CA Will Extend Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2010 Management Capabilities

CA SiteMinder and CA Wily APM to Broaden CA's Support for Managing, Governing and Securing Mission-Critical Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2010 Applications

ISLANDIA, N.Y., Oct. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- CA (Nasdaq: CA) today announced that it plans to add support for the upcoming release of Microsoft® Office SharePoint® Server 2010 in CA SiteMinder® and CA Wily Application Performance Management (APM), expanding its management tools that help govern, manage and secure SharePoint Server 2010 information--facilitating IT efforts to minimize cost and maximize business value in managing SharePoint Server 2010 applications.

The new CA SiteMinder Agent for SharePoint is being designed to simplify information access so contractors, partners and customers can be more securely included in a SharePoint Server 2010 environment. It will also provide centralized administration and auditing to help reduce management costs and assist with compliance requirements.

CA also plans to include CA Wily APM SharePoint Server 2010 support to allow real-time dashboard monitoring of SharePoint Server 2010 environments, to help identify and correct performance problems with critical SharePoint Server 2010 applications. These capabilities are intended to help IT meet performance objectives, achieve business goals and deliver high-quality service to end users.

"Customers are looking for ways to expand their investment in SharePoint Server 2010 while minimizing cost and risk," said Jeff Teper, corporate vice president, Office Business Platform, Microsoft Corp. "Partners like CA continue to deliver management tools on the SharePoint Server platform to help ensure customers meet these goals."

With these added capabilities CA intends to help empower organizations to more effectively govern, manage and secure their IT operations by helping to:

  • Build governance directly into their SharePoint Server 2010 environments to manage, control and discover records and information for litigation readiness, risk mitigation and compliance with CA Records Manager and CA Message Manager.
  • Authenticate and manage access control for all users with CA SiteMinder.
  • Enforce data loss prevention policies on both existing files and new uploads with CA DLP.
  • Monitor user transactions and provide metrics to support effective service levels with CA Wily APM.

"SharePoint Server 2010 has a lot to offer and many customers are looking for the right management tools to help them fully realize its potential," said Gary Weiss, senior vice president, business development and strategic alliances for CA. "We believe the combination of CA management tools and SharePoint Server 2010 is the best combination to help make that happen."

In addition, as part of its long-standing work with Microsoft to provide records management solutions to the federal and public sector, CA announced last month that it was the first company to receive a paired certification with CA Records Manager and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 for the Freedom of Information Act and Classified Records requirements of the U.S. DoD 5015.2 v 3 standard.

CA continues to work with Microsoft to build joint solutions for critical customer needs. Microsoft recently recognized this relationship by selecting CA as its Global ISV Infrastructure Partner of the Year.

CA will be demonstrating its SharePoint Server 2010 management solutions at the Microsoft SharePoint Conference 2009 this week at Booth 309.
