CAIR: Conn. Coalition to Ask Governor to Probe NYPD Muslim Spying
HARTFORD, Conn., Feb. 20, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On Tuesday, February 21, the Connecticut chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-CT) will join with the Connecticut Civil Rights Coalition at a noon press conference in New Haven to urge Governor Dannel P. Malloy to protect the rights of Muslim students in that state.

The coalition's request comes following revelations that the New York City Police Department (NYPD) spied on Muslim students at Yale and other northeastern universities without warrants, legal jurisdiction or probable cause.
At the news conference, the coalition will ask for similar efforts to protect Muslim civil rights by Yale University and local law enforcement authorities.

The coalition's sponsoring organizations include the American Civil Liberties Union of Connecticut, CAIR-CT, the National Lawyers Guild, the Bill of Rights Defense Committee, and other civil rights groups.
