CAPE PAC Condemns Obama Redesign Of U.S. Flag
WASHINGTON, Oct. 16, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On the day of the historic second U.S. presidential debate, Coalition of Americans for Political Equality Political Action Committee (CAPE PAC) Chairman Jeff Loyd condemned the release of an American flag print by President Barack Obama that replaces the flag's 50 stars with Obama's campaign logo. The 'Obama Flag' is being sold for $35 on barackobama.com.
According to U.S. Flag Code, the American flag is prohibited from bearing any "...design, picture, or drawing of any nature," as well as from being used for advertising purposes.
"As a proud American, I have the utmost respect for our American flag and what it stands for. Even more important to me are the sacrifices that have been made by the millions of brave Americans who have fought to preserve all that we hold dear, represented by Old Glory," said Loyd.
Said Loyd: "I'm appalled by President Obama's redesign of the American flag. But it is one more example of the moral bankruptcy and shameless, self-serving tactics we have seen during the course of the past four years."
"Pres. Obama's failed leadership stands in stark contrast to the positive vision and experience of the GOP nominee, Mitt Romney. President Obama must be replaced on Election Day – November, 6, 2012," he said.
CAPE PAC released the video, "Our Flag," that asks that Obama's presidential campaign "leave the American flag alone." The video, a part of their Stop Mr. Obama series, can be viewed at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74xTVM-dEZg.
"From the Ardennes forest to the mountains of Afghanistan, brave Americans have fought and died for the ideals represented by the American flag," said CAPE PAC spokesperson Mark Pfeifle. "For the Obama-Biden campaign to turn our nation's sacred symbol into a cheap campaign prop is nothing short of reprehensible."
"The Obama-Biden campaign owes the nation an apology for this callous desecration of the flag, and should withdraw every piece of campaign literature, advertisement and video featuring it."
Pfeifle noted that poll numbers have also tightened in key states, with Romney leading by three points in Florida and tying with Obama in Ohio.
"Tonight, we expect Mitt Romney's performance to be nothing short of spectacular. The numbers are improving for Romney-Ryan because people are seeing what they stand for, instead of what's depicted in the negative ads run by Obama's team," Pfeifle said. "Ryan won his debate with crisp, factual answers, while Joe Biden laughed and smirked his way through a rambling performance that included failing to explain their actions after the attack on our consulate office in Libya."
During the vice presidential debate, Vice President Biden often failed to provide answers about the Obama administration's policies, including the truth about the attacks on the U.S. embassy in Libya in which U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans were killed.
For their StopMrObama.com campaign, CAPE PAC also launched a newly-designed website, StopMrObama.com. The homepage calls on voters to pledge to reject Obama's re-election. The new site also has a content-rich section called "Reasons to Pledge Your Vote" that includes 30 articles specific to Obama's policy and leadership failures. CAPE PAC has been promoting the hashtag #StopMrObama, as well as the hashtag #RomneyRyan2012 on Twitter.
