BACKGROUND: The 138 award-winning Pulitzer photographs document more than six decades of war, politics, social issues and everyday life. The images capture unforgettable moments such as the shooting of James Meredith, raising of the flag at Iwo Jima, Babe Ruth's farewell at Yankee Stadium and the World Trade Center on 9/11. Accompanying text tells the story -- often in the photographer's words -- of how the photographer was able to "capture the moment."

Ken Crawford has interviewed more than 50 Pulitzer Prize-winning photographers and is a producer of the Newseum's original film "The Pulitzer Photographs: A Glimpse of Life." Susan Bennett worked with the team that developed exhibits for the Newseum, which opened in Washington, D.C. in 2008, including content for the museum's popular Pulitzer Prize Photographs Gallery.

"Capture the Moment: The Pulitzer Prize Photographs" was developed by the Newseum in association with Business of Entertainment, Inc., New York, with Cyma Rubin as curator. The exhibition has been seen by more than 2 million visitors in museums and history centers across the country.
