Carbonetworks Issues Statement of Support for EPA Greenhouse Gas Health Hazard Warning
SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 8 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Carbonetworks(TM), a leading software company that provides performance management for energy, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and sustainability solutions, has announced its support for the Environmental Protection Agency's declaration that carbon dioxide is a health hazard.
Issued on December 7, 2009, the EPA's statement allows the agency to issue rules to govern heat-trapping pollution that many scientists say may lead to irreversible climate shifts. The EPA announced the decision in a statement that said the science "overwhelmingly" supports the finding. The statement also identified GHGs as the primary driver of climate change.
"Coming at the start of the Copenhagen climate talks, the EPA findings are well timed, and support Carbonetworks long held belief that greenhouse gases are a serious health hazard," said Michael Meehan, President and CEO of Carbonetworks. "This is a significant step forward by the U.S., and a move that should be welcomed by everyone, including America's business community. There's opportunity that comes with moving forward on energy policy and carbon emissions, and there are technology solutions out there that give businesses the real-time knowledge of their emissions so they can make informed decisions about reducing their energy costs."
In September, the EPA issued a landmark ruling that specifically required large emitters of heat trapping emissions to begin reporting GHG data, and this weeks announcement builds on that ruling. Carbonetworks announced its GHG Jumpstart Program earlier this year, a program of software solutions to support compliance with the EPA's new Mandatory Reporting Rule for greenhouse gases, and has extended the program to support the EPA's findings regarding greenhouse gases.
With over a decade of experience, Carbonetworks has helped hundreds of customers to manage and reduce their GHG data on a robust but easy-to-use system. With nearly 8,000 sites implemented to date, its customer base ranges from oil & gas, utilities, manufacturing, to telecommunications, technology, financial services, retail, and consumer products.
