IRVINE, Calif., Dec. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Cat Fancy magazine, the world's premiere cat publication, won 21 Certificates of Excellence, three Muse Medallions(TM), the Purina® Cat Chow® Nutrition Award and the Sticky Paws® Training Award at the 16th Annual Cat Writers' Association's Awards Banquet in White Plains, NY, held Nov. 19-21.

The Muse Medallion is the Cat Writers' Association's top honor. Cat Fancy Editor Susan Logan won a Muse in the Monthly Magazine category; Fran Pennock Shaw's article "Combat Heartworm," published in the June 2009 issue won in the Health and General Care category; Cimeron Morrissey was awarded the Muse Medallion in the Magazine Column category for her "Foster Focus" column, which runs regularly in Cat Fancy, and Kim Campbell Thornton won for her Kittens USA® article "Kittenproof Your Home."

CatChannel.com, the online destination for cat lovers, was also the recipient of a Muse Medallion. CatChannel blogger Suzanne Stowe was recognized in the Regular Blogs category for her Crazy for Cats blog.
