Catch World Cup Fever: 2010 World Cup Soccer Excitement Becomes a Dance for All

South Africa is looking for a local youth soccer team to bring to South Africa and play a match in the home of the 2010 FIFA World Cup(TM)

NEW YORK, Oct. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- South African Tourism is inviting parents and coaches to show their kid athletes a new way to get in on the spirit of the game. The 2010 FIFA World Cup is coming in June; South Africa is hosting; and South Africa wants to spread the welcoming spirit of the games by getting young soccer fans dancing the Diski.

America has always been a little different when it comes to soccer. What is a pop culture phenomenon in other countries, has been a "sport with a following" here. But the times are changing. Soccer excitement is building in the U.S.

South African Tourism has partnered with US Youth Soccer (the largest youth sports organization in the United States) and World Cup sponsor Coca-Cola to spread soccer awareness via a fun Web video contest and ultimately bring an American youth soccer team to South Africa.

The Diski dance is a new dance based on soccer moves that has been specially created by South Africa for the 2010 World Cup to express the country's unique way of playing soccer. It's rhythmic, showy, energetic, and above all, great fun.

The fabulous grand prize -- of the Web video contest -- is a trip to South Africa for the entire team -- parents and coach included, for 8 days/7 nights. The trip includes visits to Johannesburg and Cape Town, a game park and a match against a South African youth soccer team, possibly in one of the World Cup stadiums.

All you need to do is learn the Diski dance moves, feel the rhythm of South Africa, and upload your video at www.southafrica.net/dance. The contest began on Friday, September 25, 2009, and runs through Sunday, December 13, 2009.

Teams may have a minimum of 10 members and a maximum of 15 members, ages 8 through 14, and must be affiliated with organized leagues or organizations such as American Youth Soccer Organization, US Youth Soccer National League, Metro Youth Soccer League and similar organizations.

The winning youth soccer team will be announced in mid-January 2010.
