CEMCO, Inc. (CEMCO) Celebrates Five Years in Belen, NM

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., May 26 /PRNewswire/ -- After thirty-five years in a 21,000 square foot Albuquerque facility, operations became cramped and departments needed room to grow. In May 2004, CEMCO moved 38 miles south to a new location with enough room for many years of expansion. "We'd been looking for 8 to 10 years for another site in Albuquerque, but we found a potential world class facility left behind by a former mobile home manufacturer," says Neil Hise, president and owner of CEMCO, Inc. The Belen facility sits on 23 acres with 140,000 square feet of productive floor space, large overhead doors and overhead hoists spanning across the entire length of the building. CEMCO has a 7,500 square foot "environmentally friendly" paint booth, very large capacity CNC machines, blasting facility, full size aggregate test crushing facility, a ballistics lab, a 300 ton horizontal press, and a 1,000 ton 20 ft horizontal press.

During the five years at the new CEMCO location there has been a 94% increase in sales, the total number of employees has increased 32%, and there has also been an increase in capacity and new equipment.

"My biggest fear about the move was that my long term employees would not be willing to follow CEMCO and commute this distance every day," says Neil Hise. "10% of CEMCO employees have been with the company for 25 years or more, 25% - 10 years or more and 42% - 5 years or more. Losing them would be losing 100s of year's worth of experience and knowledge. I asked my supervisors to plan the 'perfect' shop and each division head presented his layout to be incorporated into the finished building. The end result is a facility that can produce crushers or any specialty engineered product, smoothly, efficiently and at less cost than I could have ever imagined. My people are extraordinary!!"
