Central Florida Cadillac Presents The Legacy of the Escalade From 1999 to the present day, Cadillac continues to set the bar high with their luxury Escalade SUV
ORLANDO, Fla., Aug. 1, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- At the conclusion of the 20th century, there were several car manufacturer's offering SUVs. Some examples include the Hummer H2, the Lexus LX line, and the Toyota Highlander. The Lincoln SUV, the Navigator, was released in 1998, as Ford's luxury contribution. This action spurred General Motors to act, as well. The GM's luxury line, Cadillac released its own version of the SUV in 1999 – thus the Escalade was born.
1999 to 2001: The First Generation
The release of the Escalade was not as smooth as GM had hoped. It was derived and conceptualized from the lower line of GM SUV's, the GMC Yukon and Chevy Tahoe. Unfortunately the first generation appeared to be a "hurry-up" job and did not operate much better. The first generation of this SUV only made it for two years, and the replacement had a much better reception.
2002 to 2006: The Second Generation
In 2002 the Escalade was introduced with a new design and the option of engines. Additionally, you could choose from five to eight seats in the vehicle making it more appealing as a family vehicle. When the 2003 model was released it offered the extended ESV trim and power-adjustable pedals. The following years had new introductions, as well, increasing the luxury and appeal of the Escalade:
- 2004 model introduced the option for 20 inch chrome wheels, the inclusion of XM Satellite Radio, a standard tire pressure monitoring system and bucket seats in the second row;
- 2005 model introduced the Escalade Platinum edition.
The second generation of Escalades was more spacious, with increased power and luxury.
2007 to the Present: The Third Generation
New features are continually being introduced to the Escalade SUV. In 2009 the first hybrid Escalade was introduced, offering green consumers a luxurious option. The 2013 Escalade was ranked as one of the top three Luxury Large SUV.
Cadillac is excited to release the 2015 model in early 2014, featuring an all new powertrain and platform, with the same luxury and performance you expect from the brand. While the Escalade obviously had a rough beginning, the innovations and technology that were implemented has made this vehicle one of the most sought luxury SUV's in existence.
