PLEASANTON, Calif., Aug. 10, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Certent, Inc., a leading provider of software as a service (SaaS) solutions for equity compensation management, financial reporting for ASC718, and regulatory filings with the SEC, announces its membership and support for the XBRL US Center for Data Quality.
XBRL US, the national consortium for XBRL business reporting standards, launched the Data Quality Committee to develop and make freely available guidance and validation rules that public companies can use to prevent or detect inconsistencies or errors in XBRL submissions to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). "The formation of the Data Quality Committee marks the beginning of a new era of improved XBRL quality," says Rob Blake, director of product management at Certent. "We are excited to continue our support of XBRL by reviewing draft rules and creating rule guidance that targets removing one of the biggest obstacles facing XBRL today: data usability."
XBRL is a global standard for digitally exchanged business information reported to the SEC and other regulators around the world. Representatives from The Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), Bloomberg, the American Institute of CPAs, and the CFO Institute will also be involved in furthering the Center's mission to promote accurate and reliable XBRL data. "We are extremely pleased to have Certent as a member," says Campbell Pryde, president and CEO of XBRL US. "I anticipate Certent's XBRL expertise to be a valuable addition to the Center. Every company that is serious about data quality is getting involved in this important initiative."
Automated validation rules developed by the Committee will be incorporated into Certent's Disclosure Management (DM) solution as an integral part of the XBRL review and approval process. Certent DM allows companies to easily manage their regulatory reporting requirements by integrating document and XBRL management within a cloud-delivered, Microsoft Office-based environment.
