CH2M HILL Selected to Provide Disaster Debris Management Plan for Washington State Seattle Urban Area Security Initiative

    SEATTLE, Sept. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- CH2M HILL Enterprise Management
 Solutions, an industry-leading management consulting and IT solution
 development business, announced it has been awarded a $150,000 contract by
 the Seattle Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) Core Group to assess
 current disaster debris planning efforts and to develop a disaster debris
 management plan for the three county Urban Area. The UASI core and
 workgroup are designed to set a strategic direction for the enhancement of
 regional response capability and capacity.

     This comprehensive tri-county Urban Area Disaster Debris Management
 Plan will help the region to recover from disasters and hasten the return
 to normal operations. Under the contract, CH2M HILL will conduct the
 project in four planning sessions with stakeholders in King County
 (including the cities of Seattle and Bellevue), Pierce County and Snohomish
 County, Washington. The fourth workshop will culminate in a training
 session on the debris management plan framework for use by the
 stakeholders.
     CH2M HILL will support the UASI project by:
 
     -- Assessing current capabilities and providing a framework plan
        identifying roles, responsibilities and expectations to unite
        stakeholders in debris management efforts to hasten emergency response.
     -- Creating a plan that facilitates an efficient return of the public's
        quality of life while recovering from a disaster.
     -- Leveraging the plan to ensure routes are cleared more efficiently,
        roads suffer less damage, landfill space is preserved, nuisance dust
        and smoke is minimized, and sites used to store, process or dispose
        debris are located on the basis of response time and environmental
        protection.
 
 
     The project is expected to be fully completed by April 2008.
