Chicago Tribune Foundation Awards $90,000 in Journalism Grants

 

CHICAGO, Dec. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- The Chicago Tribune Foundation announced today that its board of directors approved $90,000 in journalism grants. The journalism grants support diversity through educational programs in the Chicago area for high school journalists, internships for hands-on journalism experience for young journalists or professional development for established journalists.

"The Chicago Tribune Foundation strives to support diverse voices in the media," said Jan Woelffer, Grant & Charitable Programs Specialist, Chicago Tribune. "We are proud to be a part of this initiative and to support the vitality of the journalism community."

Grants totaling $90,000 were approved for the following journalism organizations:

  • Asian American Journalists Association
  • Center for Excellence in Health Care Journalism
  • Committee to Protect Journalists
  • Community Renewal Society
  • Illinois First Amendment Center
  • International Women's Media Foundation
  • Investigative Editors and Reporters
  • Link Media, Inc.
  • Local Initiatives Support Corporation
  • National Association of Black Journalists
  • National Association of Hispanic Journalists
  • Native American Journalists Association
  • News Literacy Project
  • Sports Journalism Institute
  • True Star Foundation
  • University of Rhode Island Foundation (Metcalf)
