CHICAGO, Dec. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- With so many doctors to choose from in metropolitan Chicago, where should you turn in times of medical crisis?
The January issue of Chicago magazine--on newsstands Thursday--identifies 347 of the area's best physicians in 57 different medical specialties. The list, put together in cooperation with Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., is based on recommendations from other doctors and hospital administrators. The issue also profiles six of the doctors--as well as a local man who overcame a crippling knee injury and took on Mount Everest.
"If a crisis hits, you want to arm yourself with as much information as you can," says Richard Babcock, the editor of Chicago. "The Chicago area enjoys a wealth of terrific doctors, and our list offers a good way to start the search for a good doctor for you."
This month's issue also features the magazine's annual selection of Chicagoans of the Year. This year's honorees--the jazz musician Ramsey Lewis, a Holocaust survivor, a horsewoman, an architectural detective, and two grieving parents--are a varied bunch with one thing in common: They know how to get things done.
Elsewhere in the January issue of Chicago:
- Why Is This Man Laughing?: The story of car dealer Bob Rohrman's life, laughter, and lawsuit (against a plastic surgeon for allegedly stealing his wife).
- Dining: Rick Bayless's (slow) fast food, at his new restaurant, Xoco.
Chicago editor Richard Babcock, managing editor Shane Tritsch, and other members of the magazine staff are available for on-air interviews about stories in the January issue. Contact Kate Mersman at 312-222-3165 to schedule an interview.
