STAEDTLER SPONSORS 2nd ANNUAL WORLD KIDS COLORING DAY

TO BENEFIT 'SAVE THE CHILDREN'

CHATSWORTH, Calif., March 6 /PRNewswire/ -- On May 6, 2009, children around the world will do something they enjoy to benefit children in need. World Kids Coloring Day, sponsored worldwide by well-known writing instruments manufacturer, STAEDTLER, provides a unique opportunity for children to support Save The Children, an organization that benefits children's rights around the globe. The theme for World Kids Coloring Day 2009 addresses "our earth - our universe," and is supported with lesson plans on the topic of Astronomy.

"As the US division of STAEDTLER worldwide," explains Michael Wiesmann, President and CEO, "we are pleased to again be a part of this worthwhile global event! Children are natural-born artists and coloring is of great importance for their development. The 2008 event was an enormous success with more than 500,000 children around the world participating. A worldwide total of more than $50,000 was donated to the Save The Children organization."

STAEDTLER is encouraging schools throughout the nation to participate. "Schools and teachers can simply log onto www.world-kids-coloring-day.us to register," comments John D'Ascenzo, Senior Account Manager, Education Division for STAEDTLER. "STAEDTLER will supply the first 10 schools to sign up with four classpacks of colored pencils. The three schools that collect the most donations for the Save The Children Organization will be awarded monetary prizes to use in any way they deem beneficial to their school."

"All the money collected from the sale of the artwork in the United States will go to Save The Children, USA which supports projects for school children in Haiti, Sudan, Afganistan, and the United States," continues D'Ascenzo.

With the collected donations from the World Kids Coloring Day, STAEDTLER supports Save The Children's "Rewrite the Future" program to bring quality education especially to children in conflict affected fragile regions.
