Full Disclosure Network(R) Reports
WASHINGTON, Dec. 23 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Full Disclosure Network® is reporting that Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy has received an urgent Christmas plea to intervene on behalf of the beleaguered, jailed Anti-Trust Attorney Richard I. Fine, Ph.D. Fine's supporters and his petition state that he has been held in "coercive confinement" for upholding his oath as an officer of the Court and is being held in contempt of court in the Los Angeles County Jail for since March 4, 2009.
The contempt sentence followed Fines attempt to disqualify Los Angeles Superior Court Judge David Yaffe for having taking illegal payments from L.A. County, a party to the case before him. In a letter from Fred Sottile, spokesperson for the "Free Richard I. Fine" volunteer organization, Justice Kennedy is being asked to release Fine based upon the similar circumstances of where former Los Angeles Times Reporter William Farr was jailed for one year and released due to the "moral grounds" on which he refused to comply with a Court Order.
The letter to Justice Kennedy was accompanied by Richard Fine's Petition for Stay of Execution of Sentence for "Coercive Confinement" for ten months and is representing himself ...
"on righteously solid grounds in fervent hopes of spending the last month in his home before its lost forever to foreclosure as a consequence of his making a principled stand by not relenting on honoring his oath as an officer of the court."
Sottile's letter points out:
- Dr. Fine has been jailed for ten months, longer than 5-day maximum for criminal coercive contempt.
- Dr. Fine could never be coerced into violating his oath. His principled stand has cost him his home and his license, a devastating price to pay to resist L.A. County corruption.
- Dr. Fine is 70 years old, his health has deteriorated as a direct result of his incarceration. He now has a staph infection, suffers from edema of the legs, back pain and now is being medicated for high cholesterol.
