Chrysler Group Extends Deadline of 'Closing the Technology Gap in Education' Program to January 31

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Jan. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Chrysler Group today
announced that the deadline to submit entries for the second annual Walter
 P. Chrysler "Closing the Technology Gap in Education" awards program has
been extended to January 31, 2007. Applications received electronically or
postmarked by this date will be considered for $87,000 in prizes.
"We found that a lot of teachers had difficulty making the original
December 31 deadline due to the holiday rush, so we're happy to give them
this additional time," said Julie Flashner, Group Sales Manager of the New
 Detroit Science Center.
The "Closing the Technology Gap" awards program is a partnership
between the DaimlerChrysler Corporation Fund and the Science Center. It
recognizes and rewards Michigan public elementary, middle and high school
teachers for finding innovative and creative ways to help more students
consider science, technology, engineering and math careers -- and to close
the gap between the number of U.S. students who pursue careers in these
areas compared with students from other countries.
"With this awards program, we are shining a spotlight on educators who
demonstrate their passion and enthusiasm for creatively teaching science,
technology, engineering and math," said Frank Fountain, Chrysler Group
Senior Vice President - External Affairs and Public Policy and President of
the DaimlerChrysler Corporation Fund. "It's time again to light the fire of
 inspiration."
Entry forms can be obtained on the Web at
www.chryslerteacherawards.com. For more information, call Julie Flashner at
 (313) 577-8400, ext. 424.
