City of Chicago and Chicago 2016 Form 'World Sport Chicago'
Online Community to Develop Aspiring Olympic Athletes
CHICAGO and OAKBROOK TERRACE, Ill., August 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Geneca and
Tanagram Partners announced today their involvement in World Sport Chicago
(WSC), the alliance recently formed by The City of Chicago and Chicago 2016
to promote the development of amateur sports and international competition
in the Chicagoland area. To demonstrate their enthusiasm for Chicago's 2016
Olympic bid, both firms offered their services pro bono to help WSC develop
their branding, community, and website strategy.
"The formation of World Sport Chicago displays the city's long-term
commitment to international and domestic amateur sports, both before and
after the 2016 Olympic Games," said Michael Conley, former Olympic champion
and Executive Director of the organization. "As an Olympian, I will ensure
this organization strives to abide by the Olympic Movement while promoting
sport at all levels throughout the Chicagoland area."
This launch of WSC represents the start of an online community
dedicated to enhancing awareness and participation in Olympic and amateur
sports with the goal of giving athletes the opportunity to see and
experience sport across all levels. A major component of WSC's programs is
hosting clinics that give youth the opportunity to train with world class
athletes and catch the Olympic spirit.
"The level of enthusiasm for hosting the 2016 games in Chicago is quite
simply amazing and we're honored to be among the local businesses asked to
contribute time and talent to help Chicago win," states Geneca Client
Partner, Duane Meaux. "We feel that our time in this project is an
investment in Chicago's future in many ways. This effort will motivate our
youth, bring economic benefits before and after the games, and be an
incredible source of pride for everyone who lives here."
"The passion of the Chicago 2016 leadership was so intoxicating it was
nearly impossible for us to refuse involvement," said Tanagram Partner's
Creative Director, Lance Rutter. "Their steadfast commitment to bring the
Olympic games to our world-class city inspires us daily. Through our work
with WSC, we want Chicago and the world to know that we believe in the
talent of our youth -- as well as the power of an online community to
motivate and inspire."
World Sport Chicago was built using scalable Open Source Technology and
W3C programming standards. Accessible, fast, and inexpensive to maintain,
it is the perfect home for Olympic and Paralympics micro-communities. World
