City of Detroit Announces Pistons' Celebration

    DETROIT, June 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Following the Pistons' victory, Mayor
 Kwame M. Kilpatrick announced that Detroit will honor the 2004 NBA Champion
 Pistons with a parade and rally on Thursday, June 17.
     The parade will begin at 11:30 a.m. at Jefferson Avenue and Chene. It will
 proceed west on Jefferson Avenue.  The celebration concludes with a rally at
 Hart Plaza.
     "The Pistons are the pride of Detroit," said Mayor Kilpatrick. "We want to
 honor the team for its championship spirit.  Today, Detroit is painted red and
 blue."
     The City of Detroit expects more than a million fans to come downtown for
 the celebration.
