Former Apple, Cisco and IBM Veteran Brings a Wealth of Technical and Business Experience

ISLANDIA, N.Y., Dec. 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- CA, Inc. (Nasdaq: CA), the world's leading independent IT management software company, today announced that Cliff Meltzer joined the company as corporate senior vice president and general manager of the Service Assurance business unit, which includes the company's application performance, infrastructure fault and performance, and database performance management product lines. The former Apple, Cisco and IBM veteran reports to Tom Kendra, executive vice president, Enterprise Products and Solutions.

"With his deep technical and business expertise, Cliff possesses the knowledge and experience necessary to leverage the success of our industry-leading products, while adding capabilities for a new level of IT and business service assurance," said Kendra. "His strategic guidance and product development capabilities will be instrumental in helping enterprises, government agencies, and service providers gain the visibility and control across their physical and virtual IT environments necessary to ensure successful application delivery."

In his new position, Meltzer will lead product strategy and development for CA's service assurance portfolio, which includes current products and solutions such as CA eHealth® Performance Manager, CA Insight(TM) Database Performance Manager (DPM), CA Spectrum® Infrastructure Manager, CA Spectrum® Service Assurance and CA Wily Application Performance Management (APM), among others. Meltzer will also leverage assets from the recent acquisition of NetQoS.

Most recently, Meltzer was at Apple where he was responsible for leading the development of platform-dependent software across all Macintosh® products. Prior to that, he held senior management positions for more than 10 years at Cisco Systems, most recently as head of the Network Management Technology Group. In this capacity Meltzer provided guidance, business strategy, and product development strategy for all of Cisco's network management products. Before joining Cisco, he served at IBM for 16 years; the last 10 years at its T.J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, N.Y., where he did research and product development on high-performance mainframe internetworking. Meltzer earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics and a master's degree in computer science from the University of Rochester.
