Cloe Axelson and Joy Engel Join VOX Global in Boston and Portland, Maine

BOSTON and PORTLAND, Maine, July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- VOX Global, a bi-partisan public affairs firm headquartered in Washington, D.C. with a growing New England presence, has hired Cloe Axelson to join its Boston Office and Joy Engel to join its Portland, Maine office to support its growing business in the region.

Axelson joins VOX as an Account Supervisor and will work to develop and execute communications strategies for non-profit and corporate clients, with a particular focus on the public health, education and sustainability sectors. Axelson previously worked as the lead writer at the Democratic National Committee/Organizing for America. In that role, she collaborated with senior DNC and OFA officials to manage and coordinate the daily message and wrote blog posts, opinion editorials and speeches.

Axelson also worked as an Assistant Political Director for the Federation of State Public Interest Research Groups (PIRGs) and in the public affairs office of the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection. At MassDEP, Axelson wrote speeches for Commissioner Laurie Burt and collaborated with senior management and program staff to develop public education campaigns. For several years, she has also worked as an editorial consultant for Julie Morgenstern, an organizational expert and New York Times best-selling author. She began her professional career as a field organizer in Missouri on Vice President Al Gore's presidential campaign. Axelson graduated with honors from Tufts University and has a M.S. in Communication Research from Boston University.

In the Portland, Maine office, Joy Engel joins as an Account Supervisor and will work with VOX's array of Maine-based clients. A native of Maine, Engel brings to VOX years of experience working with top consumer technology brands while she served at Racepoint Group's San Francisco office. During her time at Racepoint, Engel worked with brands like Sony Electronics and eHarmony, aiding in their digital and traditional media relations efforts. Prior to joining Racepoint Group, Engel served in Fenton Communications' San Francisco office. While at Fenton, Engel helped build Fenton's burgeoning online practice and served in Fenton's education and human rights practice areas. Engel also served on many political campaigns including John Kerry for President and Bob Menendez for Senate. Engel is a graduate of Drew University in Madison, New Jersey where she majored in Political Science and French.
