PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- CN8, The Comcast Network added
to its 10th anniversary celebrations with eight Emmy awards from the
Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
The award wins coincide with the network's expansion into more than 9
million homes from Maine to Virginia and Washington, D.C., and the
simultaneous launch of an entirely new network-wide programming lineup last
Tuesday. The eight wins honor CN8's multi-genre, primetime original
programs, including "It's Your Call with Lynn Doyle," Art Fennell, now of
"Art Fennell Reports," "Out of Bounds," "Backstage with Barry Nolan" and
"American Builder." The Emmys set a new record for CN8, and mark the most
awards for a regional cable network. In just 10 years, CN8 has been
recognized with 314 Emmy award nominations.

Lynn Doyle, CN8 political director and host of "It's Your Call with
Lynn Doyle," and Art Fennell, veteran news anchor and host of "Art Fennell
Reports," earned statues for the Interview/Discussion Program and Anchor
categories, respectively. These awards mark Doyle's sixth Emmy for the
fourth consecutive year, and Fennell's fourth win. The Academy further
supported CN8's multi-genre programming excellence with an additional six
Emmys in the categories of Program Host/Moderator, Entertainment Program
 Feature/Segment, Entertainment Program/Special, Sporting Game Live/Unedited
Program/Special, Sports - Regularly Scheduled Daily/Weekly Program and
 Photographer - News.
"This prestigious industry recognition of CN8's broadcast vision and
programming excellence is a testament that we have achieved our mission to
create an entirely new genre of original, interactive, intelligent cable
programming not available elsewhere," said Michael Doyle, founder, CN8 and
president, Comcast Cable Eastern Division. "The CN8 team, led by vice
president and general manager Jon Gorchow, has delivered on and exceeded
the expectations we set out 10 years ago to break all boundaries and
fulfill an unmet need for our viewers."
The honors complement the network's 40 Emmy award nominations earned in
August, the most for any cable network and the second highest for any
network in the Mid-Atlantic region. CN8 general manager Jon Gorchow was
also recognized with a "Station Excellence" nomination for excellence in
 overall station operations.
CN8 is the nation's largest and most recognized regional 24-hour cable
network, producing live, original and interactive programming covering the
worlds of sports, politics, personal finance, issues, entertainment and
more. On Sept. 5, 2006, CN8 expanded to an additional 2 million homes in
Washington, D.C., Maryland and Pennsylvania, while simultaneously launching
a new, network-wide lineup featuring more than 90 hours of live, original
programming per week and announcing a new 4,000-square-foot Capitol Hill
studio. CN8 is now available in more than 9 million homes across 12 states
and 20 television markets from Maine to Virginia and Washington, D.C.
"Since inception, CN8's talented team of journalists, producers,
writers, editors and engineers have pioneered cable industry milestones,
most recently with the successful launch of new shows, new studio
locations, new sets, new graphics, new music, new markets and more in less
than three months," said Jon Gorchow. "These individuals have achieved
national recognition for a network that reached only 400,000 viewers just
10 years ago - the Academy's continued recognition makes our hard work that
 much more gratifying."
The regional Emmy Awards, now in their 24th year, recognize excellence
in news, programming and individual achievement in Pennsylvania, New Jersey
and Delaware. The awards, sponsored by the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the
National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, were presented Saturday,
Sept. 9 in Philadelphia. This year's competition included prizes for seven
new categories, including one honoring general managers for station
 excellence.
