CNS, Inc. Licenses Breathe Right(R) Name to American Air Filters International(R) for New Furnace Filter Products Designed for Allergy Relief

CNS Exploring Other Opportunities to Leverage Brand to 'Better Breathing'

Aug 13, 2001, 01:00 ET from CNS, Inc.

MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- CNS, Inc. (Nasdaq: CNXS), a consumer
health care products company and maker of Breathe Right(R) nasal strips, today
announced an agreement with American Air Filters International(R) (AAF) to
license the Breathe Right name for a new line of premium air filters for home
furnace and air conditioning systems being introduced this week at the
 National Hardware Show in Chicago.
Four new Breathe Right Air Filters will be available in hardware stores
and home centers, mass retailers and selected drug and grocery stores in
January 2002. The target market for the new product line is allergy
sufferers, who can filter allergy-aggravating pollen, dust and other
contaminants from the air by equipping a home furnace or air conditioning
 system with a filter.
"We are excited about this long-term partnership with AAF, a respected
industry leader that has developed an excellent new product line," said Marti
Morfitt, president and CEO of CNS. "This represents the first of what we hope
will be a number of opportunities to combine our strong brand name with
innovative better breathing products in new product categories. It extends
awareness of our brand in new retail channels, to new consumers."
AAF and CNS have planned several joint promotions in support of the new
filters. Each Breathe Right Air Filter will include two free Breathe Right
nasal strips, which offer drug-free relief for a variety of conditions,
including nasal congestion due to allergies and colds. Breathe Right nasal
strip packaging also will include a rebate offer for the new filters.
Last year, CNS signed a license agreement with The Procter & Gamble
Company (P&G) to use the Vicks(R) brand name on a new CNS product -- Breathe
Right strips for colds with Vicks mentholated vapors. This year, following
the product's strong U.S. debut during the 2000 cough/cold season, CNS has
expanded the P&G agreement and is launching the mentholated strips in several
 international markets.
