Growing Firm Adds Respected Senate, News Media Professional

WASHINGTON, Aug. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Matt Mackowiak, founder and President of Potomac Strategy Group, LLC (PSG), a political consulting and communications firm based in Washington, DC, and Austin, TX, has named John Reid Vice President.

Reid recently served as Editorial Director at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Communications Director for U.S. Senator George Allen (R-VA) and as a News Anchor and Investigative Reporter in Richmond, VA and Waco, TX.

For a decade, Reid was a television News Anchor and investigative reporter at the ABC television station in Richmond, anchoring coverage of the DC sniper story, news surrounding the 9-11 attacks, and major elections. Reid has worked as a news producer for the CBS affiliate station in Waco handling news coverage of the aftermath of the Branch Davidian tragedy there.

For two and a half years, Reid was Communications Director for U.S. Senator George Allen (R-VA), gaining him national attention for a potential presidential bid. While Reid did not work for Allen's ill-fated re-election campaign, he saw up close the major decisions in that pivotal race. Reid also served as President of the Senate Press Secretaries Association.

He most recently worked as the Senior Director of Editorial Communications for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, where he lead the press outreach operation and served as executive editor of their monthly magazine.

A graduate of Baylor University, Reid was selected to serve as an intern and assistant to the press secretary in the office of former President Ronald Reagan in Los Angeles. Reid is a longtime member of the Radio Television News Directors Association and currently serves on the development board of the U.S. Capitol Historical Society.
