NEW ORLEANS, July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- CA-WORLD -- Computer Associates International, Inc. (NYSE: CA) (CA) today outlined an aggressive research and development program to extend the products and technologies obtained in its recent acquisition of PLATINUM technology International, inc. In roadmaps distributed at CA-WORLD 1999 and PLATforum, CA unveiled details of its commitment to enhance and extend the PLATINUM products and integrate those technologies with CA solutions to rapidly deliver tangible benefits to clients. "Less than two months after completing the largest software acquisition in history, we are pleased to detail our plans to extend, enhance and integrate PLATINUM product lines with CA solutions," said Yogesh Gupta, CA senior vice president of product strategy. "The synergies between the product lines are truly outstanding." According to Gupta, CA's strategy is to seamlessly meld CA and PLATINUM resources to help organizations radically improve all aspects of application development, data management, security, and e-commerce. The roadmaps cover application development, data warehousing and business intelligence, enterprise performance and database management, DB2 solutions, job management, and security. A synopsis follows: Application Development -- Leveraging PLATINUM's best-of-breed solutions for managing application development and deployment, CA will deliver ADvantage TND to improve design and deployment of a new generation of business applications. The ADvantage TND solution suite seamlessly integrates with the Jasmine TND infrastructure, enabling shared services across tools to have the same powerful implementation and ease of use. Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence -- PLATINUM's strengths in the data warehousing, data mining, and data modeling spaces will extend CA's industry-leading Unicenter TND and Jasmine TND solutions to provide a unique warehousing solution, DecisionBase TND. DecisionBase TND addresses the full spectrum of warehousing needs: analysis and design, deployment, asset and inventory, and intelligence and visualization. DecisionBase TND will also exploit ADvisor TND, extending this technology from its roots as an application life cycle tool to provide a new Web portal to support warehouse development and deployment as well as delivery of business intelligence. Enterprise Performance and Database Management -- CA will integrate PLATINUM technologies with CA's Unicenter TNG Framework and Jasmine TND to create a new solution suite, ManageIT, to provide the most comprehensive performance and database management solutions on the market. ManageIT solutions address the critical issues of monitoring and management of databases, applications and their underlying systems from a "business process management" perspective. DB2 Solutions -- CA will leverage PLATINUM's leadership in the DB2 management space by providing a comprehensive portfolio of advanced solutions that enable clients to reduce the time, effort and human error involved in implementing, maintaining and maximizing the availability of efficient DB2 applications. As part of this far-reaching commitment, CA will deliver production releases of DB2 solutions that exploit DB2 Version 6 --including backup and recovery, database administration, database design, fast utilities and database performance management/analysis. CA will extend the DB2 solution family with CA-Insight for monitoring the DB2 runtime environment. In addition, DB2 customers will benefit from the Unicenter TNG agent for DB2, and integration with the Unicenter TNG infrastructure. Job Management -- The integration of AutoSys with CA's scheduling solutions will deliver the most sophisticated and comprehensive job management for today's enterprise. CA will continue to market the AutoSys job management as a stand-alone solution. By integrating AutoSys Job Vision and CA's Job Flow Technology, CA will deliver visualization for both the static definitions as well as the dynamic status of job-streams. Security -- CA will aggressively enhance PLATINUM/MEMCO SeOS and Single Sign-On security solutions through new features and functions and integration with CA security offerings. In addition, CA will offer eTrust, a broad-based solution that supports customers' e-business initiatives with the industry's most comprehensive portfolio of integrated security, privacy and trust services.
