Constellation Energy Source Awarded $5.7M Contract to Upgrade Family Housing Facilities at Aberdeen Proving Grounds

Sep 27, 2001, 01:00 ET from Constellation Energy Group

BALTIMORE, Sept. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Constellation Energy Source (CESource)
today announced the award of a $5.7M contract to install 643 geothermal heat
pumps in Aberdeen Proving Grounds' (APG) Bayside Village and Patriot Village
military family housing facilities. The contract also includes a 20-year
service agreement, estimated at $4M, which provides financial and energy
 savings for APG.
Existing air-to-air heat pumps will be replaced by geothermal heat pumps.
APG will receive state-of-the-art systems that will improve the comfort,
safety, and operation of the family housing facilities. In addition, the
contract assists APG in its effort to meet the energy emission reduction goals
set by Executive Order 13123, "Greening the Government through Efficient
Energy Management." This order, issued in 1999, sets new goals for energy
reduction in government buildings, as well as reducing emissions attributed to
 energy usage in government buildings.
APG can expect to have annual financial savings of approximately $600,000
and savings of over 8,600,000-kilowatt hours of energy per year. Reduced
emissions resulting from this project are equivalent to 785,000 gallons of
gasoline saved per year, 2500 acres of trees planted per year or over 1200
 cars removed from the road.
CESource is one of five companies selected by the Department of Energy
(DOE) to manage a national geothermal energy-savings retrofit program for
 federal facilities.
CESource proposed a solution to their family housing facility energy and
infrastructure needs. CESource's proposal was accepted by APG and the
contract was awarded through the Defense Energy Supply Center (DESC). "The
awarding of this contract to CESource is the result of a good working
relationship with APG and continual work between the two parties to reduce
energy usage, enhance the facilities and improve the environment at the base,"
said Constellation Energy Source President, Greg Jarosinski.
Constellation Energy Source provides customized energy solutions
nationwide to commercial and industrial customers with a focus on energy
 project development.

Note: Constellation Energy Group (NYSE: CEG) is a holding company that
has energy-related businesses focused mostly on power marketing, generation,
and portfolio management, plus BGE, which provides service to more than
1.1 million electric customers and nearly 600,000 natural gas customers in
Central Maryland. CEG reported combined revenues of $3.9 billion and assets
 of $12.4 billion in 2000.
Constellation Energy Group intends to separate its wholesale merchant
energy and retail energy business into two stand-alone, publicly traded
companies as soon as all required approvals and rulings have been obtained.
The separation is expected to occur later this year.
