WHAT: Up to 200 couples from throughout the Midwest will "Take the
Ultimate Plunge" by exchanging their wedding vows in a mass
ceremony on the new, 22-story Giant Drop freefall tower.
(Note: the park is closed.)

Wedding Ceremony and "Plunges": 9 a.m. - noon.
Scheduled satellite windows for live shots: 6-8 a.m.; 12-1 p.m.;
5-6:30 p.m. (CT)

WHERE: In the Southwest Territory at Six Flags Great America; Gurnee,
Illinois. Media should exit I-94 at Grand Avenue East; pass the
Park entrance to Route 21. Take a right, to Washington Street and
turn right to Washington Street entrance.
WHO: Open to reporters, on-air personalities, photographers, editorial
staff (and wedding parties) only.
NOTES: Interviews may be scheduled with:
-- Jim Wintrode, Six Flags Great America President
-- Harold Hudson, Sr. VP Engineering, Six Flags Theme Parks
-- Rev. Cliff Herring, American Coaster Enthusiast who performs
weddings on thrill rides.
-- Participating brides and grooms.
NOTES: -- Satellite uplink and editing facilities will be provided and
will be scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis through the
Public Relations office through May 1.
-- TV cameras will be mounted on the ride to take advantage of this
one-time opportunity to tape rider and reporter reactions. Bring
beta tapes to insert. Beta and 3/4-inch b-roll of the ride will
also be provided.
-- Still cameras will be mounted to the ride with remote control
equipment available. Bring 35mm film to insert.
-- No additional cameras will be allowed on ride.
-- B-roll of The Ultimate Plunge will be transmitted via satellite
at 1 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. (CT) on Friday, May 2, 1997 on the
following coordinates: Galaxy K-7, Transponder 14 Lower.
